Very difficult book to get into...sad. I don't need to read a depressive book, I need to read to enjoy myself. Thank goodness this was free, I would have been upset to lose the money.

Forever Always The Ever Trilogy Book 1 edition by Jasinda Wilder Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
4.5 stars. Cade and Ever meet at a summer art camp while they are young teens - Ever is a painter and Cade is a sketcher. Although they didn't spend much time with each other, their encounters were significant enough to leave an imprint such that they chose to become pen pals. I really grew attached to both of them. Ever is very independent, self-assured, open and even tempered. Cade is sincere, introverted, guarded and lonely. Part of what keeps their connection strong is how honest they are in their letters and how they've both endured tragic losses in their lives. They can count on the other to send a letter nearly every week and they share things with one another that they don't tell anyone else, such as Ever's frustrations with her twin sister Eden. It was obvious early on that Ever and Cade belonged together. But since they live far apart, they couldn't see each other in person and as life goes on, they go about living their lives. Until the day comes where Cade needs a friend more than anything.
There's a very sweet vibe to the relationship between Cade and Ever. Cade has been through the emotional wringer as far as what he can handle and Ever is there to hold him through it. I absolutely loved them together. There's not a shred of doubt how much they love one another. And they can certainly light each other up in a way that is so rare amongst couples that it was simply beautiful for them. But as it seems for Cade, good things aren't meant to last and that ending, well that was simply heartbreaking. This is definitely a plot that is angsty, emotional and dealing with heavier issues and it's only beginning to unfold.
The story line was good, but the lengthy never ending, page
The story line had me feeling so much sympathy for them. The endless sex scenes, almost made me wonder if two different people wrote the book. One with deep insights on how a teenager would feel after losing one or both parents. The other someone who combined parts of every sex scene they had ever read, never learning that sometimes less is more.
As I hate cliffhangers I will not be reading the next book in this trilogy. It is time these young authors realize that making each book stand alone will encourage readers to want to read the next book, rather than turning them off, as I was when I realized I had been sucked into a cliffhanger.
I won't read the rest of the books. I am not one for books that have people say they are so in love, soul mates and so on and then sleep with someone else. I read the reviews for the next two books and found out enough to know that I didn't want to go there. Just not my cup of tea.
Okay, so in all fairness, this is a good book. The relationship between Caden and Ever builds slowly (and appropriate considering they are only 15 when they first meet). It is a sweet, sweet story about true love finding its way despite the obstacles in its path. It is well written and I couldn't wait to continue their story in the second book. So why the 1 star rating? It is really meant as a warning to other readers who might feel like I did after realizing what awaited in book 2. I felt utterly betrayed. Without giving too much away (if you are really curious, you can read other reviews of book 2 and book 3 to figure it out), the hero of this story turns out to be the biggest douche bag in the history of romantic leads. I understand that people, under pressure and at extremely low points in their life, do unspeakable acts to cope. I also like reading about redemption for these types of characters. HOWEVER, I cannot honestly believe that there would be any kind of redemption for Caden's betrayal, at least not enough to result in a HEA for him and Ever. One reviewer said for this type of betrayal, "women never forget and never forgive." and it is so true. It just wouldn't happen and it makes me sad that I fell so madly in love with Caden and Ever for this to be their future together.
I had no idea this is going to be the most depressing book. I've read atleast 50 books for the last 6 months and this is definitely the one I hated the most. First it was too depressing then when it got good because Caden is no longer alone, it became very sexual that it's even hard to feel that there were even love between the two characters. Then at the end it got depressing again and I was almost curious to find out what happens to the next book so I started reading the review and OMG, I wished I didn't find out because now I'm even more upset that I bothered reading the first one. Don't read this book unless you are one of those people that likes to read really sad book. I really thought the author couldn't make it more depressing but after reading the reviews on the next book, I am now going to ban reading books from this author.
